Updated Currently Reading

It’s been a few weeks, but I’ve updated my currently reading section. At the moment, I’m reading a couple of non-fiction medieval history books: The Warrior of God – Jan Zizka and the Hussite Revolution by Victor Verney, and The Crucible of the Middle Ages by Geoffrey Barraclough (book 2 of the Story of the Middle Ages Box Set). I’m thinking of finally getting around to reading Lion of Ireland by Morgan Llywelyn next. It’s been sitting on my bookshelf for a while.

What are you currently reading?

  1. I’m in the process of reading Ivanhoe and I am nearly finished with one of Cornwell’s books. Ivanhoe is a bit difficult at times; it’s really heady.

  2. The Last Kingdom. It’s a good story overall, but he seems to have some cliched characters and a bit of a bias against Christians.

  3. I’ve only read up to the Pale Horseman, but I think Uhtred’s character will change over time, to at least respect Alfred and his Christian beliefs, even if he doesn’t adopt them. I don’t think Cornwell personally has a bias against Christians; I just think it’s the character in this particular series. In the Grail Quest Series, his main character is much more religious in terms of Christianity.

  4. You are probably correct about that. I have seen some priests in the story who are quite honorable, too. Perhaps I’m just a bit too touchy.
