Have you read A Distant Mirror by Barbara Tuckman? It is, in my opinion, one of the best broad spectrum explorations of the late Middle Ages.
I haven’t read it yet, but I’ve seen a lot of people suggest that one. It seems to be fairly popular. It has a 4.5 star rating on Amazon. I need to go out and pick it up.
