  1. Hey Steve,

Just wondering if you’ve read Jack Whyte’s Camulod Chronicles? If you haven’t its an excellent take on the Authurian story. Plus its a complete series with a total of 9 books published in the US. Give it a read I liked it alot and it sems we tend to read alot of similar books.

  2. Darren, I haven’t read Jack Whyte before. Is that the series with Sky Stone in it? I’ve been meaning to give that a read for some time now.

  3. SALKA VALKA by Halldor Laxness might be worth your scholarly or free time attention. I’ve never been able to find it myself, but it’s said to be a quite funny account of Viking days. Somewhat related, NJAL’S SAGA is worth a read — I raced through it 40 years ago and it’s still in my head. Farley Mowat’s VESTVIKING has quite a few excerpts from Viking accounts — from all indications Norse and American Indians got on with each other about as well as Col Custer and Sittiting Bull; you can see this in the sagas, but the Vikings writing them did not ….

  4. Mike, I just reviewed a book Viking Weapons and Combat Techniques that will be published in the next issue — I believe it’s the next issue — of the Heroic Age medieval academic journal. That book contained lots of excerpts from the Sagas of Icelanders, including Njal’s Saga. It was very entertaining.
